About

Ben Christensen

Ben Christensen is a charismatic educator who loves exploring how and why history, politics and the economy shape our lives. My classrooms are spaces in which you will analyze how society both limits your freedoms and provides opportunities, challenging students to think critically, analytically, and to become strong creative writers. Broadly speaking, my research investigates power and inequality in Canadian society. More specifically, my work examines Canadian pension policy and the welfare state, and social movements that both challenge and embrace economic globalization. I’m currently co-editing a special issue on nationalism and anti-free trade activism in Socialist Studies. I've also recently published on pension policy reform in Canada. My research can be found in publications such as the CCPA Monitor, Studies in Political Economy, the Canadian Journal of Political Science, and Socialist Studies.
