Advanced Human Resource Management (Post-Baccalaureate Diploma)
Want to get into Human Resources but don’t have a business background? The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Advanced Human Resource Management teaches you the fundamental business concepts you need to understand and succeed in Human Resources. You’ll take business courses in management essentials, academic writing, business law, introductory marketing and more. In your second year, you’ll take advanced HR courses in occupational health and safety, employment law, labour relations, workforce planning, talent management and more.

Designed for post-baccalaureate students, this program prepares you for part-time paid or volunteer positions that complement your studies. You’ll participate in career-building workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions, career fairs, networking with employers, peer-led leadership meetings and more. Once you graduate, you’ll get the continued support, skills and knowledge you need to find a full-time job in your field.
One step closer to receiving a Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) designation
CPHR BC & Yukon offers five pathways to earn the CPHR designation, which is the only nationally recognized HR designation in Canada.
As a student at Douglas College in one of the three Human Resources programs, you have the option to follow Pathway #3 (Accredited Schools Path) to earn the designation.
Pathway #3 requires you to:
Be a CPHR BC & Yukon member in good standing.
Graduate from your accredited program with a minimum 70 percent average and then apply to be exempt from writing the National Knowledge Exam. *
Validate your relevant HR work experience by CPHR BC & Yukon. If you have a degree (any major) you need three years of relevant work experience.
If you don’t have a degree, eight years of work experience is required.
*If you wish to apply for the NKE exemption, you are required to maintain an active CPHR BC & Yukon student membership status until graduation and then provide your transcript upon graduation to CPHR BC & Yukon. If you do this within one year of graduation you will receive 25 percent off the exemption fees. HR students at Douglas College are also entitled to receive a 25 percent discounted student membership, just contact a human resource course instructor and/or the PDD/PBD Business Program Coordinator for the online discount code.

Pre-requisites for the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Advanced Human Resource Management
A post-baccalaureate program requires that you have a bachelor’s degree from a Canadian institution or recognized international academic institution. To find out what other requisites you’ll have to meet, visit the admissions requirements tab.
Successful completion of 60 credits
Minimum program GPA of 2.00 is required
70% (42 credits) of all coursework must be completed at Douglas College
Courses used towards a previously received credential can be used to meet program requirements, but additional courses will need to be taken to replace these credits

•Applicants must have an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada or an equivalent credential from an approved institution of a different country. Any applicant who earned their credential in a language other than English must meet the Douglas College English language proficiency requirement.
