Admissions Requirements

Applicants must meet the admission requirements listed below:

  • General College Admission Requirements
  • demonstrate proficiency in American Sign Language during the Screening and Selection Weekend activities
  • demonstrate an understanding of the Deaf community, Deaf culture, hearing culture and the field of Sign Language interpreting, as demonstrated by successful completion of the ASL and Deaf Studies Program at Vancouver Community College or equivalent. Applicants who have not attended a recognized Deaf Studies program may be required to take a department threshold exam
  • NOTE:  Applicants who have completed 9 or more post-secondary credits must be in good academic standing (with a minimum GPA of 1.5) for admission to any CFCS program.
Curriculum Framework

Graduation Requirements:

  • Successful completion of 63 credits (includes English Exit requirement)
  • 25% (16 credits) of all coursework must be completed at Douglas College
  • English Exit requirement: English 1130 or equivalent.
  • Students are responsible for providing all necessary documentation to demonstrate English Entrance and Exit Policy requirements or equivalencies.
