Admissions Requirements

To receive acceptance into the Fabrication Technologies Certificate program and priority registration, students must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • General Douglas College entrance requirements,
  • Pre-calculus 12 with a minimum grade of C,
  • Physics 11 with a minimum grade of C OR PHYS 1104,
  • Douglas College English language proficiency requirement

Learning Outcomes

After completion of the Fabrication Technologies Certificate program, students will be able to:

  • Design, build, and prototype mechanical devices;
  • Design, build and prototype circuits that incorporate sensors, electromechanical actuators and embedded computers;
  • Create applications that make use of electrical, computer and microcontroller hardware, sensor interfaces, and mechanical components;
  • Design, construct and program a computer controlled machine, such as an autonomous robot, to perform an assigned task;
  • Apply a standard structured engineering design process to develop solutions to industrial design problems;
  • Read and produce two-dimensional and three-dimensional technical drawings;
  • Design and implement a computer program to solve well-defined problems;
  • Produce informative and persuasively written research reports, presentations, resumes and cover letters;
  • Prepare a basic marketing strategy and complete a simple market research study.
