You will be matched with no more than four mentees.
- Sign up to the mentorship program.
- Complete the tasks in the Blackboard course once you're admitted.
- Receive an email from a Douglas International coordinator.
- Attend an introductory session with DCI
- Wait for your mentees!
No. If you and/or your mentee do not wish to video chat, that is your choice. However, we strongly encourage you to connect with your mentee via video call when needed to check in. It is a great opportunity to get to know each other and build your relationship.
For the Fall 2021 semester, we will be introducing mentors to Microsoft Teams. This is a free application included in your Office 365 account. This is where you will interact with your mentees, receive updates about the program, log conversations, and learn about other volunteer opportunities!
Throughout your first semester, you can reach out to mentor with any questions you may have about your new life at Douglas College and Metro Vancouver area, share common interests, culture and more! Your mentor will check in with you to make sure you feel supported. However, please note that your mentor is not expected to be a counsellor, advisor, or instructor for you. A mentor is meant to be a point of reference for the mentee to the services at the college.
While we encourage participants to continue to stay in touch with each other, this program will be one semester. For Fall 2021, please note that your mentorship will officially end on Wednesday, December 18th.

Once you have successfully signed up for the program, the matching period is between September 1st and October 15th. How you respond to the survey factors into which mentor is best to help you in your first semester at Douglas College. We will work to find the best match for you.

No, you cannot. You will have the opportunity to connect with mentors once you are fully registered in your first semester.
However, you can connect with a DCI Ambassador to learn more about Douglas College, its programs, and student life.
The DCI Mentorship Program is for free to all students who meet the eligibility criteria.
